Annual Contribution to the Global Biodiversity Information Facility

This activity supports the UK annual contribution to GBIF which is an international agreement to create and manage an open data infrastructure, allowing access to data about all types of life on Earth, and helping to meet commitments to promote data access under the CBD, and enabling analyses to support decision making and policy implementation at a range of geographic scales. GBIF makes available the tools, codes and data to establish national portals of the database, providing a strong capacity building element in helping developing countries to manage, mobilise, access and share their biodiversity data; and providing training.
