Ecosystem Services Valuation Database update

The global Ecosystem Services Value Database (ESVD) was developed with Defra support in 2010. This database holds values of 22 ecosystem services across 10 habitat types. It is owned by the Foundation for Sustainable Development (FSD). The ESV Database has hardly been updated since its publication in 2010 and needs improving for the following reasons: • It is only available as an Excel file, which makes it difficult to use the data. • There is no system in place to continually update and review the data in the database. • There is no system in place to communicate the (updated) content of the database to potential users of the data. This procurement is to support an evidence project to deliver an update to the database, which provides key evidence in support of driving improvements in environmental, climate and sustainable development-focused programming across the ICF portfolio and wider UK Government development programming. The updated product will enable UK Government and actors globally to more accurately estimate the impact of policies and interventions on specific locations and habitats across the developing world, before design and implementation stages. In this way, it will enable them to more effectively deliver sustainable development outcomes for people in poverty in ODA-eligible countries.
