Fleming Fund pilot project to build an antimicrobial resistance (AMR) reference laboratory and support an AMR surveillance network in Vietnam. The Vietnam pilot project aimed to: 1. Develop an AMR reference laboratory including setting up the required infrastructure and recruitment and training of a surveillance team and; 2. Develop a national AMR surveillance programme. As a result of this work, Vietnam has developed its first stage of laboratory infrastructure at the National Hospital of Tropical Diseases in Hanoi. Equipment has been installed, staff recruited and trained, and surveillance networks strengthened.
